Commercial Bank & Trust of PA
Bank on an institution you can trust
by Karen Fetter
Commercial Bank & Trust of PA (the “Bank”) calls Westmoreland County its home. With nine offices located throughout the county in Latrobe, Ligonier, Greensburg, Hempfield Township, West Newton, Unity Township, and North Huntingdon, the “Bank” puts the customer and its community first according to the Norwin community office manager Karen Botti.
“Our customers are not just numbers in our system. They are our number one priority,” Botti said.
The Bank has 70 years experience in the banking industry. The bank first opened its doors in May 1934 in Latrobe at the former Peoples National Bank. This location still serves as one of the bank’s retail offices and administrative headquarters. Founding directors were L.B. Berlin, Michael Charley, D. C. Cramer, Grover Hofelt, Welty B. Jobe, Philip Kuhns, L.M. Musick, James Shaffer, and B.M. Watkins. The bank started with a total capitalization of $193,250.
The Bank has a wide variety of banking and financial services to accommodate every customer. Personal accounts are available that include free checking, checking with interest, certificate of deposit, savings, retirement savings, Christmas Club, and Prosperity PLUS Savings Account. In addition, there are many loan types available for personal use such as residential, construction, and first-time homebuyer mortgages as well as home equity, personal, automobile, and student loans. Easy access is another way the Bank accommodates its customers. Services such as automated teller machines at most banking locations, online banking, and online bill paying make banking not just a nine to five option for customers.
The Bank also offers Business Banking with services that include free checking, checking with interest, money market investment accounts, and savings accounts. Other key services that make business banking easier are commercial loans, business time-deposit accounts, direct deposit, night depository, FICA, and withholding tax payments.
The Bank has a full service Asset Management and Trust division. Services offered include trust and estate planning, investment and cash management, employee benefit and retirement plans, as well as custodial brokerage services.
The Bank also offers promotions to make becoming a customer more appealing than ever. Botti said that is just one of the reasons that Westmoreland county residents bank with Commercial Bank & Trust of PA.
“Every customer is greeted as soon as they walk through the door,” said Botti. “And in most cases they are greeted on a first name basis. You don’t always have that at other banks.”
Because the customer is not just a number, giving back to the community is a high priority for the bank. The Bank is represented through Botti on the Board of Directors for the Norwin Chamber of Commerce and the Norwin Rotary Club. In addition, each year the Bank has been responsive to the needs of the community through volunteering, educational involvement, and civic contributions.
It is obvious that the customer is first with the Bank. Make a change to a community bank and begin banking with Commercial Bank & Trust of PA.
Choosing a bank isn’t just about starting a savings account.
